The Grand Tasting

Bordeaux introduced the unique “Classification” concept in 1855 under the direction of Napoleon III. Unlike the Burgundy classification of vineyards, this concept classified specific estates based on quality, price and worldwide prestige. These “Classified Growths” have demonstrated how the synthesis of terroir and the dedication of human intervention have safeguarded quality for generations. At this Grand Tasting, we will taste a wide range of “Classified Growth” wines from the Medoc, Graves and St Emilion classification systems. We will discuss the creation of these systems, review the “Blue Chip” and “Growth Stock” estates, as well as explore purchasing options for near term enjoyment and long-term cellaring.

The Grand Tasting Experience includes a Champagne reception, 3 flights of Elite wines, and Chef’s Table menu pairings from our Executive Chef Daniel Herman.
